What do you believe about yourself?

31 days myself

31 days myself

Some of my favorites truths… I am victorious. I am free. I am chosen. I am accepted. I am beloved.

I believe wholeheartedly that what you believe about yourself affects your daily life.  What do you think about yourself when you look in the mirror?  What words would you use to describe yourself?

How much of what you believe about yourself is based on God’s truth? How much is based on your feelings, things you were told growing up, or culture’s influence?

What does God say about you?  Each day I will share a personal story and focus on a different truth of our identity in Christ.

I love the story about Johnny Ligo who lived in the South Pacific. The islanders were shocked when this well respected man chose his wife. In this culture, cows were given to the father of the bride. Four to six cows were considered a high price for a stunning, beautiful bride. Johnny paid ten cows for a girl who was considered timid, undesirable, and of little value. Ten cows for a bride was shocking and unheard of in that culture. Several months after the wedding, a visitor who had heard the story met Johnny Ligo and his wife. The man was shocked at the transformation of the bride. She was stunningly beautiful, confident, and happy. Johnny told the man, “I wanted a ten-cow wife so I paid and treated her as one until she came to believe the truth herself. What matters most is what she thinks about herself. Before she believed she was worth nothing. Now she knows that she is worth more than any other woman on the islands.”

That’s the power of perception! God our Abba Father sees us in a vastly different light than we view ourselves. I can’t wait to dig into the truths of our identity! May these truths transform the way we view ourselves and the way we live!

What do you believe about yourself?
