God delights in you!

There’s something amazing about knowing that somebody takes great delight in you. What makes it even more compelling is that God is so personal that He takes great delight in us.

What is the definition of delight? It means to take great pleasure and joy.

Do you know in the depth of your heart that God delights in you? God takes great pleasure in you! You bring God great joy. Not for anything that you do but simply for who you are. His beloved child. There is complete acceptance in His presence.

Here are some more definitions:

-to please greatly. that’s you!

-someone that provides a source of happiness.

-a feeling of extreme pleasure or satisfaction.

When God looks at you He has feelings of extreme pleasure and satisfaction.

Zephaniah tells us that God delights over you. He rejoices over you with singing.  Isaiah tells us that you are engraved on the palms of God’s hands. You are the apple of His eye. He draws you to Himself with cords of loving kindness.

My husband delights in me. From a young age, he wanted to be a husband and a father. He waited forty long years before God brought me into his life. When you have waited and longed for something for years and years, you take great delight when it finally happens.

My husband is one of the most energetic, optimist, happy person that I know. Increase all that happiness a hundred fold and that was my husband when we were married.

The first couple months of our marriage, my husband proudly showed our wedding picture to anyone and everyone he met. Random strangers at Dunkin Donuts, the bank, Home Depot, and everywhere he went saw our wedding picture on his iphone.

When you delight in a person, you can’t contain your joy to yourself.

My husband tells me that all his riches are wrapped up in me. Jesus and his wife is all he needs. What you delight in becomes your greatest treasure.

The God of this Universe, our Abba Father delights in you! You are treasured in His sight!

My husband had the biggest grin of delight on our wedding day. He could not contain his joy and happiness.

Imagine God has a huge grin of delight on His face when He looks upon you, His beloved child.

The beauty of our marriage is that my husband never stops delighting in me. Even on days filled with hard conversations, misunderstandings, and the stress of life. He still looks upon with great delight.

We have been married for 15 months now. Almost every day my husband thanks me for marrying him. He freely expresses his love, affection, and delight in me. My husband in all his excitement, enthusiasm, and joy shows me a small glimpse of God’s great delight in me. A glimpse because we can’t even begin to fully understand how great God’s delight is in us!

How does this truth- God delights in us- change the way we live?

There is freedom from striving and insecurity. You find acceptance, refreshment, healing, and confidence in God’s love and delight.

What does the word delight bring to mind in your life? Do you know God delights in you?

Oh my goodness you two are ADORABLE! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more joyful wedding photo – love it!!
This is a very encouraging message for me right now – I’m struggling with several things, one of which is infertility and it is hard to imagine God delights in me when my body won’t work correctly! But… I’ll take to heart that no matter what I am “fearfully and wonderfully made” and it’s all in His Hands! 🙂

Julie I will be praying for you. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your story. And yes, the truth is still the same. God delights over you! You are fearfully and wonderfully made! God knows the deepest desires of your heart and he cares about you!

This is such an encouraging post, Rebekah! I love your examples from Scripture of His love for us, and some practical examples of what that looks like as well. Beautiful!
