My identity is all wrapped up in the gospel!

Today I want to remind myself of a basic truth: the gospel.  Because my identity is all wrapped up in the gospel.

Listen to this. I was lost in my sinfulness. I had no hope of heaven. I was separated from God. Yet in my pit of brokenness, God found me. He sent his only Son to come and save me. He made a way for me through the death of Jesus. Praise God, the story does not stop there! The power of God raised Jesus from the dead. Death has lost it’s sting. Sin has no hold on me.

Below is one of my all time favorite gospel songs. I have literally ran many hills and miles to this song. It goes DEEP into my heart and spirit.

It reminds me of the gospel. It fills my heart with awe of God. It is a testimony of the times God has rescued me. It causes my heart to BLESS THE LORD!

Bless the Lord (Son of Man)– Tye Tribbett and G.A.

Son of Man, Son of Righteousness

King of the earth for sinners slain
I was lost, in darkness found
You ransomed my heart and I will sing

(You are )my Strength, (You are)my Deliverer
The One who rescued me
(You are) my Hope, (You are)my redeemer
Your love has set me free
(Thats why I will)
Bless the Lord oh my soul

In the splendor of Your Majesty
from deep within my spirit sings, holy holy
Holy holy
Bless the Lord oh my soul

All I can do in response to the majesty of God is worship Him. When I think of the gift of my salvation and all that God has done in my life, I want to shout “Bless the Lord!”.

May God give us fresh wonder of who He is today! May we be in awe of the gift of our salvation! May we be reminded of all the times He has worked in our life! May our lips and heart be filled with praise to our God!
